Avenel Plot Three Wins Again
Congratulations to Hugh Petter of ADAM Architecture. Avenel Plot Three has been Highly Commended in the 2011 International Residential Property Awards. Thomas Robinson Architects are pleased to be executive architects on the project.
Airtightness Results
We are pleased to announce impressive airtightness test results from three of our projects last week. Congratulations to the builders who made this happened:
W. S. Dunsire - New House Strathblane: 2.29 m³/h×m²
R. G. Chalmers – Holiday Cottage No 1: 1.00m³/h×m²
R. G. Chalmers– Holiday Cottage No 2: 2.11m³/h×m²
In all of the above projects we aimed to achieve less than three. Results such as these are a major achievement and indicate that the comfort and efficiency performance standards that were aimed for in the design will be achieved.
Marking World Green Building Week
To mark World Green Building Week TRA’s Tom Robinson attended the 2011 AECB ( Association of Environmentally Friendly Builders) conference in Nottingham. The AECB is a beacon for pushing up standards in low energy / low carbon building. There were many informative workshops on the application of Passivhaus methodology in retrofit projects including some practical workshops by builders who are rigorously practising these methods . It wasn’t all practical, one talk explored the extent to which low energy design has evolved and how this knowledge effects what well designed buildings look like today.

Avenel Plot 3 wins “Best Luxury Home”
We are delighted that Avenel Plot 3 has won the Best Luxury Home Category in the Herald Property Awards For Scotland 2011. This is the second year that a house in the Avenel Development by Scops Developments has won this category. Avenel Plot 1 won this award in 2009. The Herald Property Awards are arguably one of the most sought after accolades amongst developers in Scotland. Progress at Plot 5, Avenel
Steelwork arrives at Plot 5 Avenel. We also have new aerial photos of the whole development at Avenel.
Indoor - Outdoor Living
Work has just finished on this new extension which is a simple compliment to an existing Victorian house. The Victorian interior has typically small, dark rooms with East/ West orientation. The extension is one large room which houses kitchen, living and dining spaces. The natural daylight is abundant and the connection to the garden optimizes the previously unused garden space. Instead of a Victorian house with small public rooms our clients now have a house which is more fit for modern day family life. The addition of the new room transforms the existing small, public rooms into very valuable secondary study and play spaces. Refer to our Projects Section for more photos.
